Abstract
The puerperal period in the context of legal customs The postnatal period is part of an archaic system of rites of purity and impurity. The separative, protective elements and rules of conducts became a community norm and regulatory system in the Christian culture on the basis of the Old Testament religious law (MOSES III 12: 1- 8), and were incorporated into the legal folk customs and, rom the end of the 19th century, into the laws protecting the workers and the factory workers.
