Additional notes to the history of criminal law protection of the family Judicial practice at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries prosecuted sexual acts that directly disturbed the peace of family and marriage with consistency despite the lack of legal codification in Hungarian law, the absence of legal definitions and the deficit of a national and coherent regulation. Moreover, it also provided protection against behaviour detrimental to the morality of society and indirectly or potentially disruptive to family life. Due to the lack of consecrated articles, the slowly commencing penal codification was rather affected by changing moral perceptions, thus, could have only little impact on the practice of traditional law-making until the mid-19th century.
