dc.description.abstract"Making a law for women" - legal cultural history and legal ethnographic data on an 18th century lawbook Farkas Cserei Nagy-ajtai (1719-1782) wrote a book between 1760 and 1770: "The Law of Hungarian and Szekler Women" (Kolozsvár, 1800). This lawbook contains laws, customary law, statutes and case law defining the legal status of Hungarian and Szekler women (wives, daughters, orphans, widows) of the nobility and urban citizens until 1744. The legal cultural historical significance of the book is that it contributes to the development of Hungarian legal language. The legal ethnographic significance is that, by explaining the legislation of women's personal, matrimonial property and inheritance matters, it describes in detail the living legal customs and legal folk customs of the 18th century.
