The continuous, sometimes turbulent, rapid transformations of Spanish politics can also be traced in the field of educational policy with the help of resources. The first normative school in the country opened in 1839, but the foundations for teacher training (and public education) were laid down by the Moyano Act of 1857. After that, secondary teacher training began to develop. Based on the literature, the paper summarizes the content that characterized the training of Spanish teachers, covers the development of the number and salary of teachers, and refers to the main phases of the development of the teaching profession. A new result of the research is the exploration and presentation of contemporary Hungarian press articles related to Spanish teachers. The writing concludes with a brief perspective of the early 20th century. | Keywords: Spanish education, Moyano Act, teacher training, history of professionalisation, pedagogical press, pedagógia, emlékkönyv,
