dc.descriptionPhotographs capturing the social effects of economic restructuring and the transition became age documents. In the case of the town of Ózd, a ’former citadel’ of Hungarian metallurgy, a particularly rich source is available in terms of both documentaries and photographs. At the same time, the use of photographs is important for several disciplines: visual representation is not just a means of illustration, but rather a significant ’data storage device’ capable of working with a range of images of work processes, social life and situations, to record the ’image’ of the settlement, Ózd, in the collective memory. The understanding of the local conditions of the economic and social system change (after 1989), which also provides an opportunity for comparative analyses, can be completed by involving these sources. dc.descriptionA gazdasági szerkezetváltás és a rendszerváltozás társadalmi hatásait megörökítő fotók mára kordokumentummá váltak. A magyarországi kohászat egykori fellegvárának számító Ózd város esetében mind dokumentumfilmek, mind fényképek tekintetében különösen gazdag forrásanyag áll rendelkezésre. A fotók felhasználása ugyanakkor több tudományág számára is jelentős: a képi és vizuális ábrázolás nem csupán az illusztrálás eszköze, sokkal inkább jelentős „adathordozó”, amely felvételek egész sorával képes munkafolyamatokat, társadalmi életképeket és helyzeteket, a városkép egészét egykor meghatározó építményeket, volt ipari létesítményeket, valamint Ózd „imázsát” a kollektív memóriában rögzíteni. A gazdasági és társadalmi rendszerváltozás helyi viszonyainak, összehasonlító elemzésekre is lehetőséget nyújtó megértése e források bevonásával válhat teljessé.
